Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE)

Hopkins’ Early Childhood Special Education program serves children from birth through age 5 who are found eligible for services. Eligibility is determined by using a comprehensive evaluation which assists in identifying students’ strengths and needs.

Our early intervention program, works with students from birth to age 3 and their caregivers. We use a primary coach approach to support children and caregivers by building parent confidence and skills in order to support child development within child and family routines.

Our 3-5 Preschool Program is housed primarily at Harley Hopkins Family Center but we also support and collaborate with pre-kindergarten programs across all 6 elementary schools. Our team is combined of Early Childhood Special Education teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, social workers, school psychologists, and paraprofessionals.

We offer a range of placements and services for our preschool students, ranging from small, center-based programs, to inclusive preschool opportunities at all levels.
