Nyisha Williams, interim director of transportation, was awarded the Holly Hoglund Klein Memorial Award at the MN Association for Pupil Transportation event over the summer. The award recognizes a deserving woman in the industry each year.

“I am truly honored to be the 2023 recipient of the Holly Hoglund Klein Memorial Award,” Williams said. “There have not been any women of color in this space, and I was so happy to be the first. I am honored to be able to make such a positive impact.”

Williams has spent more than 15 years in the student transportation field. Her colleagues confirm that she has shown exceptional hard work and dedication as her career has progressed.

The Holly Hoglund Klein Memorial Award is awarded annually to a woman who:

  • Works in the student transportation industry and has worked her way up the ranks or continues to show integrity, dedication, and consistency in her current role.
  • Demonstrates excellence, creativity, and initiative in the student transportation field, as well as in her community and personal life.
  • Provides valuable support to others by contributing time, energy, and/or resources.

“She shows excellent leadership and works well with everyone. She always brings new and fresh ideals of how to move the company along,” one colleague said of Nyisha’s work and professionalism.
