Sap, Science, and Syrup at Gatewood

Sap, Science, and Syrup at Gatewood
Gatewood 25-26

Last week at Gatewood Elementary, students got a hands-on lesson in making maple syrup! As part of the school’s focus on outdoor learning, students helped tap maple trees around the school and learned how sap is collected and boiled down into syrup.

Our preschoolers were especially excited to be part of the experience. After learning about maple syrup and the history of the tools and how they work, they even helped chop firewood to keep the boiling process going.
